【Iceland】 transfer and sleep at the airport of Denmark, Copenhagen(CPH)

We took the the fright of Austrian Airlines, OS 307, from Vienna Airport (VIE) to Copenhagen Airport (CPH). It was about 22:15 pm when we arrived and passed the custom/immigration hall. Then we were going to find a good place to sleep at CPH for one night and take the freight to Iceland at 8:35 am next morning (20th/Jan) by SAS  Airlines.

(As above picture shows, it is the view of the Terminal 3 at CPH and we took this picture while standing at the second floor.)

We reached the Terminal 3 after passing through the custom/immigration hall at CPH.

Now we were going around here and searching for a better place to sleep at night. There is a shop of Burger King and it runs for 24 hours. One can rest here and it provides some sockets for your phone to be charged. However, it is a little stuffy so we continued to walk around.

We found there is a lounge upstairs but it was closed that day.
Which means even you would like to pay some money to stay and sleep at lounge, it is impossible now .

As below picture shows, it is the second floor at Terminal 3. If you would like to head for the departure gate/place/hall, you would pass by it.  There are a big circle sofa chair and three long chairs.

Now you may be aware it is a good place to have a break and sleep for one nigh at CPH. 👀 However, we were too late that night. There is no space already for four of us.

So we continued to head for the Terminal 2 of Copenhagen airport.

There is a convenience stores, 7-11, that open 24/7.  You can buy some food and water here. It would be more airier overall.


Be reminded that there is no drinking fountains and no place to provide drinking water after arrival at CPH. We have inquired the staff there and she confirmed it.... >_<

But there are some chairs for you to seat and take a rest at Terminal 2 and some places for you to charge your phone. What is more important is that there are some chairs for you to lie down and sleep:)


(But NOT this kind of chairs!!! You can't lie down if there are some many handles in the middle of the chairs.)

We found the chairs here are almost with this kind of handle so you have no way to lie down and sleep on it. we were lucky and got about 8 chairs without handles as below shown.

Finally, we moved and combine the chairs one by one, that is, let the chairs were lined as straight as an arrow.

But unfortunely, all these chairs at Terminal 2 are not quite clean........
But it is o.k. You can wipe it yourslef.

Now you can lie down and go sleeping now.
However, there is one more thing that we need to tell you.
It is very cold at midnight here even you wear your jacket.
Maybe it would be better if you have warmer clothes or blankets.

As a result, if it is stuffy or no space left for you to sleep at terminal 3, you'd better head to Terminal 2 and find a chairs for you to lie down and sleep as we do.

Or not to go out when you pass the custom and stay there. We believe there would be more places for travelers to rest and sleep. We were too excited to forget about it and came out so quickly.

After taking a nap, we ate our breakfast at 7-11 and were ready to go for checking.






In Eurpore, it usually adopts the way of self checking in.
You can go to the machine  as below shown to do it/check in own your own.


For Chinese, there would be a Chinese interface for you to follow the instructions one by one. You don't have to worry about it. For others, it would be a piece of cake for you we believe it!

Oh, there is one more thing. Remember to write down or keep record of your booking reference from the airline.




After checking in, the machine will print out your ticket and the bar with your name and baggage code. Be careful if you check in together by one booking reference. Because there are four persons of us with one booking reference, the machine will print out the tickets and bars one by one. You have to check whether you get the right ticket and bar with your name on it.

Then if you have checked baggage with you, you can go to the counter next to the machine to check it with ticket and bar.






Here we made one STUPID MISTAKE.

After checking in, there is no boarding gate number shown on the ticket.
You may check it on the electronic bulletin/board.
One of our friend missed and regarded the seat number as the gate. Then all of us didn't recognize
the mistake at all but just follow that friend's step........

As we have mentioned before, the freight from Denmark to Iceland is belong to the internal freight in Eurpore. Therefore, you won't pass the immigration office theoretically. But we did.....

Eventually, we went to the right boarding gate with the help of the officer. She assisted us to check the correct gate with a big smile.

It's our actual experience to transfer and sleep at the Copenhagen Airport (CPH) this time to share with you.

Outlines of sleeping at Copenhagen Airport (CPH):
●Stay inside and do no pass the arrival/immigration hall immediately. It would be more places for you to sleep if you would like to sleep at CPH. There are some stands for you to buy food and drink, such as a hot dog. But we are not sure the opening hours of these stands.
●Before passing the custom/immigration hall, be reminded to replenish your can with drinking water.
●At Terminal 3, there are 6 chairs for you to lie down and sleep at the second floor and on the way to go to the departure hall. In addition, there is a 24-hour Burger King next it and for you to rest. But it is a little stuffy overall.
●At Terminal 2, there are a convenience store, 7-ll and 8 chairs to lie down.
●The word "arrival" we use means passing the "immigration hall/ custom". If you go into the Eurpore (Schengen nations), you won't meet the immigration officer again for the internal freight.
